## Privacy policy

Cohen Murison Law is a law practice in Toronto run by Benjamin Cohen-Murison, a lawyer licensed by the Law Society of Ontario. This policy explains how the firm handles personal information collected through this website, cohenmurisonlaw.com. "We" and "us" mean Cohen Murison Law.

We follow Canada's private-sector privacy law, the [Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act](https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/P-8.6/) (PIPEDA). In short: we collect only what we need, we tell you why, we ask for your consent, and we keep it safe.

### Who is responsible

Benjamin is responsible for how the firm handles personal information. You can reach him by phone at [(289) 309-3069](tel:+12893093069) or by mail at 100 King Street West, Suite 5700, Toronto, ON M5X 1C7.

### What we use your information for

- To reply to your inquiry and book a meeting
- To check for conflicts of interest before we agree to help you, as lawyers in Ontario must
- To understand which pages and ads bring people to the site, so we can improve them

We don't sell your personal information or share it with anyone for their own marketing.

### Who else sees it

We use a few service providers to run this website and receive inquiries, such as our website host, email provider and Google. They handle your information on our behalf and only for these purposes. Some of them may store information outside Canada, where it is subject to the laws of that country.

### How long we keep it

We keep inquiries only as long as we need them for the purposes above, or as long as the law or the Law Society's rules require. If you become a client, your file is kept under the firm's file-retention practices.

### How we protect it

The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and access to inquiries is limited to the firm's lawyer and the service providers that run the site. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so please don't send detailed or sensitive information through the form. We'll ask for what we need.

The contact form

## What the form *sends to us.*

When you send the contact form, these details reach the firm. Nothing is sent until you press "Send".

- **Type of matter**The option you picked, such as immigration or personal injury.
- **Your name and phone number**So we can call you back.
- **Your email address**Only if you choose to give it.
- **The details you type**Optional. Keep it short: a sentence or two is enough.
- **Your consent**That you agree to be contacted about your inquiry, and when you sent it.
- **How you found the site**The page you sent the form from and, if you came from an ad or a tracked link, the campaign codes in the link (UTM tags and Google's click ID, "gclid").

## Analytics, ads and cookies

This site uses Google Tag Manager to load Google's measurement tools, such as Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking. These tools use cookies and similar technology to record things like which pages you visit, how you reached the site, and whether you called, booked a meeting or sent the form. We use this to see which pages and ads are useful, not to identify you.

If you arrive from an ad or a link with campaign codes, the site remembers those codes for the rest of your visit (in your browser's session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab) so they can be sent with the form.

### Your choices

- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
- Turn off personalised ads in your [Google ad settings](https://adssettings.google.com/).
- Opt out of Google Analytics with Google's [browser add-on](https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

Links on this site to other websites, such as Google or the booking calendar, are covered by those sites' own privacy policies.

Your rights

## See, correct or delete *your information.*

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent and ask us to delete it, subject to any legal or professional duty to keep it.

 [Call (289) 309-3069](tel:+12893093069)

1. **Ask in writing**Write to us at 100 King Street West, Suite 5700, Toronto, ON M5X 1C7. Call first if you need help making the request.
2. **We confirm it's you**We may ask you to confirm your identity before we share or change anything.
3. **We reply within 30 days**PIPEDA requires a reply *within 30 days* of receiving your request. If we can't give you something, we'll tell you why.
4. **Not satisfied?**You can complain to the [Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada](https://www.priv.gc.ca/).

## Legal disclaimer

### General information, not legal advice

The content on this website is general information about the law in Ontario and Canada. It isn't legal advice about your situation. Laws, deadlines and government processes change, and the right answer depends on your facts. Speak to a lawyer before you act, or decide not to act, on anything you read here.

### No lawyer-client relationship

Reading this site, calling, booking a meeting or sending the contact form doesn't create a lawyer-client relationship. That only starts once we have checked for conflicts of interest and agreed, usually in writing, to act for you. Until then, please don't send confidential or time-sensitive documents.

### Deadlines and tools

Deadline checkers on this site give a general estimate only. Your real deadline can be different. We'll confirm it.

### Fees

For injury claims, legal fees are charged only if you're compensated, as a percentage set out in a written contingency fee agreement, plus HST. Disbursements are handled as set out in that agreement.

### Licensing

Benjamin Cohen-Murison is licensed as a lawyer by the Law Society of Ontario (L.S.O. No. 89551C). Cohen Murison Law is located at 100 King Street West, Suite 5700, First Canadian Place, Toronto, ON M5X 1C7.

## About client reviews

The reviews quoted on this site are short excerpts, copied word for word, from reviews that clients posted on Google. You can read them in full on [our homepage](/#reviews) and on Google.

Every case is different. A review describes one client's experience and doesn't guarantee, or suggest, a particular result in your matter.
