His story
Licensed in Ontario, trained at McGill and Edinburgh.
Benjamin was called to the Ontario bar in 2024 and is licensed as a lawyer by the Law Society of Ontario. He runs Cohen Murison Law from Suite 5700 in First Canadian Place, in Toronto's financial district.
He studied at McGill University in Montreal, where he earned his B.A., and then studied law at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, where he earned his LL.B. and an LL.M. by research, on Cognitio, Pignus, and Modus: Connecting a Broader Roman Law of Trusts Before 280 CE.
He practises immigration law for temporary residents, permanent residents and citizens, and acts on personal injury, long-term disability and breach of contract claims. He works with clients in English and Spanish.
He acts for immigration clients anywhere in the world who have a Canadian immigration matter, and on injury and contract claims for people harmed by something that happened in Ontario.
Much of his immigration work is at the Federal Court, in judicial review and mandamus applications, and it's the work he prefers. He also handles reconsideration requests, temporary resident permits, humanitarian and compassionate applications, and inadmissibility and removal.
Why immigration and injury law
In Benjamin's words: “Immigration and injury law both involve helping people navigate difficult situations that can fundamentally change their lives. I'm drawn to the research, advocacy, and problem-solving involved in both areas, particularly where strong legal arguments can make a tangible difference to someone's future, security, or recovery.”
